People intrigue me. I have always had an interest in how people think and what motivates them. I am a ‘curious explorer’, fascinated by new ideas, concepts, and ways of thinking. I love coming up with out-of-the-box solutions. I have a passion for training others and for improving the client experience, along with education and learning, helping others to see their untapped potential.
Adjusting my training style for different learners and their needs is a skill I have developed from being both a student and a trainer and being able to rephrase in different ways to ensure maximum understanding and retention. Over the years I have trained a wide variety of learner styles, finding ways to educate without diminishing the learner and celebrating their success without being condescending. I can connect and gain trust quickly with my positive disposition and honest nature.
My unique understanding of assessment and learning helped me greatly in my previous role as an instructional designer. My high level of written communication skills allows me to write study guides and learning modules that cover the material in a way that connects the learner to the role they are training for.
Being creative allows me to come up with workarounds to any issues that arise, and I enjoy collaborating to reach a desirable outcome. I am goal-oriented, enjoying the feeling of completion and achievement, and always have a positive outlook on a situation. I firmly believe there is a silver lining to everything, even if it isn’t always apparent at the time.
I hold a Bachelor of Social Sciences from Waikato University, majoring in psychology and education studies, along with a postgraduate honours degree in organisational psychology, focusing on staff selection, training, and retention. Additionally, I have qualifications in adult education, literacy and numeracy, and learning design. I am a DISC and MSCEIT (Mayer-Salovey-Caruso Emotional Intelligence Test) accredited practitioner and have a genuine interest in psychological testing and profiling. Continuous learning is important to me, and I am currently working towards a coaching qualification.
With a robust background in adult education, I tailor my training style to match each participant's learning preferences. I create a safe and inclusive environment where participants feel at ease sharing their thoughts and engaging with different perspectives.
I bring extensive experience in adult education and a commitment to continuous self-improvement. Whether delivering training in-house, online, or in public settings, I effectively facilitate sessions for both small and large groups. I create engaging and supportive learning environments where everyone feels valued and empowered.
I adeptly adjust my communication to suit the audience, ensuring clarity and understanding of the underlying message. I revel in those moments when participants discover new approaches that lead to better outcomes.
I excel at understanding different viewpoints and explaining them to foster greater cohesion and understanding among participants. By bridging gaps in communication and perspective, I help create a collaborative environment where everyone feels heard and valued. My approach ensures that all participants can connect meaningfully and work together effectively.
