We are luckily seeing a faster uptick of available roles than we thought, but many companies have changed the way they recruit, which is slowing things down. The uncertainty has companies taking much longer to make important decisions than pre-lockdown, but what other changes are we witnessing?
– An increase in virtual interviewing
The preference has always been face to face interviewing, but if lockdown taught us anything, it’s that anything can be done online, and companies are much more comfortable with remote interviewing.
– Some roles just don’t exist anymore
With companies taking a much more flexible approach to work, and after having to make lots of people redundant, some positions seemingly don’t exist right now. It is important to think about how you can ‘pivot’ (buzzword bingo anyone?) in your career and adapt your skills to a new role or industry.
– You have a lot of competition
Unsurprisingly, there are now a significant number of people now looking for a new role and we are seeing at least double the number of applicants for every role we’re advertising. Now more than ever you need to make your application stand out.
