We will take you through a self-directed search assessment to explore your career options. This assessment will help you understand how your interests and values impact your career or study options and provide you with an action plan with clear steps to follow.

What is Youth Career Services?
Youth Career Services is career development support for teens and students to help you get clarity, explore options, and make confident decisions about study, subjects, training, and work.
What kinds of questions do you help with?
We help with common “stuck” points like: choosing subjects, deciding between university/Polytech/trades, understanding the job market, exploring what you can do with a degree, and building practical job-search strategies.
I feel overwhelmed and confused about my career choices – can you help?
Yes! A big part of our work is helping you reduce overwhelm by turning “too many options” into a clear shortlist, then mapping practical next steps so you can move forward with confidence.
What will I walk away with after the assessment?
You’ll leave with a practical action plan and clear steps to follow, so you know what to do next (not just “ideas”).
Is this a one-off session or an ongoing programme?
The core offer is structured around assessment → exploration → action plan. If you want more support (e.g., CV, job search, networking), you can continue with additional coaching.
Do you do 1:1 support?
Yes! youth career coaching is delivered as one-on-one career coaching, designed to be practical and solution oriented.
When is the best time to get career support?
We recommend support at different stages:
Secondary students (Years 9–13)
What subjects should I take at school?
Start with your strengths and interests, then work backwards from the types of careers and pathways you’re considering. We help you choose subjects that keep options open while still moving you toward a direction.
What if I want to leave school in Year 12?
If you’re considering leaving, we’ll help you weigh your options, understand the impact on pathways, and create a plan so you leave with direction – not a question mark.
What if I don’t have university entrance (UE) – what can I do?
Not having UE doesn’t mean “no future.” We’ll help you explore realistic pathways (training, bridging/foundation options, alternative entry, work-to-study routes) and build a step-by-step plan.
How do I figure out what careers I should consider?
We use your assessment results to explore career options that fit you, then refine those options into a shortlist you can test through research, conversations, and practical next steps.
Is it okay to take a gap year?
A gap year can be a smart choice when it’s intentional. We’ll help you decide whether it’s right for you and how to structure it, so you build confidence, skills, and clarity (rather than drifting).

What can I do with my degree?
We help you translate your degree into real-world role options, identify the kinds of employers that hire for those skills, and build a plan to move from study to work confidently.
I don’t know what I want to do, it feels overwhelming?
You’re not alone. We break it down into manageable steps: clarify what matters to you, identify themes from your interests/values, explore options, and turn that into a practical action plan.
How do I put together a CV that will get me noticed?
A strong CV is targeted and easy to scan. We help you present your strengths clearly, tailor your CV to the roles you want, and make sure your achievements and skills stand out.
How long should a CV be?
In most cases, 1–2 pages is plenty for students and early-career candidates—focused on relevance and results. If you have substantial experience, it can be longer, but clarity wins. (General guidance- your best length depends on your situation.)
